Electrical & Mechanical Renewal: What to Know Before You Start

Electrical and plumbing renewal in Istanbul, natural gas lines, and smart-home infrastructure. A guide to the quality of unseen work, certified materials, and electrical panel sizing.

What is electrical & mechanical renewal?

Electrical and plumbing renewal in Istanbul are the two invisible systems that actually define the quality of any space. The biggest hidden risk in any apartment or office renovation lives in the old infrastructure: cabling and water pipes from 25 years ago usually cannot handle today's load and typically stay unnoticed inside the walls.

At HausenLab, we handle electrical renewal (panel-to-outlet runs, lighting plans, smart-home wiring, grounding) and mechanical work (plumbing, HVAC and VRF systems, gas lines) either together or separately.

In neighborhoods like Beykoz, Sarıyer, and Üsküdar, demand for retrofitting old-building infrastructure is high; we inspect every project on site and document which line items truly need to be renewed before we propose.

Who is it for?

  • Owners renovating older apartments — an audit and renewal of infrastructure before renovation is non-negotiable
  • Anyone installing a smart-home system — KNX, smart outlets, and scene lighting require dedicated cabling
  • Apartments with tripping breakers or voltage issues — panel capacity and conductor sizing must be checked
  • Anyone running a new gas line — certified installation for the line, cooktop, and water heater
  • Anyone dealing with plumbing leaks — replacing galvanized pipes with fusion-welded PPR

What to watch out for during installation?

In this category, quality is entirely hidden — most problems noticed years later come from unseen line items:

  • TSE-certified materials: cables, pipes, valves, and equipment must be certified. The cheaper "looks the same" alternative needs replacement within five years.
  • Grounding measurement: after a new installation, grounding must be measured and documented. This is a critical safety check for shock and equipment protection.
  • Pressure testing: new plumbing must be pressure-tested before walls are closed; otherwise leaks force tile demolition later.
  • Electrical panel capacity: a single-phase 25 A panel is no longer adequate for modern homes running AC, ovens, and induction cooktops. Panel size must be calculated before renewal.
  • Smart-home cabling timing: pulling cables during renovation is inexpensive; adding them later means reopening walls.
  • Certification and approval: DEDAŞ–TEDAŞ conformity for electrical, İGDAŞ approval for gas, and utility inspection must be completed and documented.

What drives pricing?

Pricing depends on the of the space and the scope. Whether you renew only electrical, only mechanical, or both together drives the cost per m²:

  • Electrical only — most economical per m²
  • Mechanical only (plumbing + heating) — middle segment
  • Full renewal — highest total but lowest per m²

Additionally, panel upgrades, gas line installation, and smart-home cabling are billed as separate line items. The cost calculator on this page lets you enter these parameters and see an estimate instantly.

The HausenLab difference

What sets us apart from other installation contractors after 15+ years is engineer-supervised execution. An electrical engineer and a mechanical engineer attend the site — measuring during installation and verifying conformity to project drawings.

We use TSE-certified cabling (Türk Prysmian, Hes Kablo), Made-in-EU plumbing components (Wavin, Geberit), and branded valves and HVAC equipment on every project. Which brand was used on which item is delivered in a written annex to the contract.

We provide a 24-month workmanship warranty for installations; on top of that, a free routine inspection every six months in the first year is part of our plan. If you experience a leak or equipment fault during business hours, we are on site within 24 hours.
